Catherine Sue King passed away Monday, April 2, 2018. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m., Saturday, April 7, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd. in Waco. A Celebration of Life service will begin promptly at 10 a.m., following visitation. Burial will be at Moore Cemetery on FM 933 in Chalk Bluff. Catherine Sue Tobias, also known as Memaw, was born in Steep Hollow, Texas, on April 15, 1929, to James Aubrey and Arlie Lawless Tobias. She married Charles King on March 20, 1956, in Bay City, Texas, and moved to Waco in 1959. Cathy was a substitute teacher for the Waco ISD, when she came to Waco. She then taught fulltime at Dripping Springs Elementary before moving to West Elementary, where she taught kindergarten for 20 years before retiring in 1990. Cathy was a member of King Baptist Church in Gatesville, where she enjoyed Southern gospel music, hymns and watching the children sing and play their instruments. She was a very active part of her grandchildren and great grandchildren's lives; attending sporting events, birthday parties and enjoying visits. She is survived by her three children, Tami Cox of China Spring, Kevin King and his wife, Apryl, of Milford and Mark King and his wife, Brenda, of West. Grandchildren include Beau Earley and wife, Lacey, of Waco, Kyle Earley and wife, Nicole, of China Spring, Breanne and Bailey King of Milford and Scott and Toby King of Aloha, Oregon; and great grandchildren, Keaton Bellis, Brighton Earley and Kannon Earley of China Spring and Rhiley, Sydnee, Evan, and Jaxon Earley of Waco.
