Cecil V. Schutz December 23, 1916 – July 17, 2006 Cecil V. Schutz, 89, of Weimar, formerly of Robinson, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2006 in Temple, Texas. He was born December 23, 1916 to Victor H. and Mary M. Schutz in Waelder, Gonzales County, Texas. Mr. Schutz was a retired welder/pumper for Southern Pacific Railroad. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in World War II as a Sergeant and squad leader in Europe, where he was taken prisoner and held in a German POW camp for 17 months. After the service, he became a lifetime member of the Waco area VFW. Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Alice Peck Schutz, two daughters, Emily Dykes and husband Jimmy of Granbury, and Katie Clark and husband Gail of Coleman; 2 brothers, Joseph Schutz of Knoxville, TN and Edward Schutz of Monroe, LA, and 2 sisters, Bernice Cochran of Gonzales and Lillie Long of Floresville. Also surviving him are step-children Monte Peck and wife Aileen of Hallettsville, Reta Hrachovy and husband David of Weimar, Yleen George and husband Jimmy of Arlington, and Larry Koehn and wife Barbara of Hallettsville; 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Norman Schutz, 2 sisters, Ruby Cruson and Hazel Meyer, daughter Mary Brown, daughter and granddaughter Patricia and Tamara Sims, and wife Elner Dahse Koehn Schutz. Funeral arrangements are through Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey in Waco. Graveside services and burial with military honors will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Waco Memorial North Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. Ceremony will be conducted by the U.S. Army Chaplain and Honor Guard from Fort Hood, Killeen, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Olin E. Teague Veterans Hospital, Dept. 135 1901 Veterans Memorial Drive, Temple, Texas, 76504, or to the charity of your choice.
