Charles David Stanley

Charles David Stanley September 6, 1950 - March 21, 2013 Charles "Chuck" David Stanley of Lorena passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013, at his home. He was 62 years old. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 26, at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, March 25, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Chuck graduated from Richfield High School in 1969, attended Texas Tech University and finally the University of Texas in Austin. He never stopped rooting for his beloved Longhorns. He served proudly in the U.S. Air Force and Air Force reserves. Over the years while working as a rancher, salesman and small business owner, Chuck made many long lasting friendships. He was an avid bass fisherman, who won many trophies over the years and was a long time member of the Waco Bass Club. He was an outdoorsman and a real man's man. Golf and camping were his other favorites, and he never missed a chance to watch Tiger Woods play on TV. Chuck was a loyal friend with a kind nature, honest smile and infectious laugh. He loved sitting by the pool with his daughters, listening to music and sharing memories or bird watching on the back porch with the love of his life, Diane. He was preceded in death by his father, Major Felix W. Stanley. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Diane; daughters, Melanie VanBlarcum and husband, John, and Michelle Knight and son-inlaw, Tom; four granddaughters, Winter, Madeline, Laura and Ivy Jean; and finally a grandson, River; his mother, Mildred Cates; and his sister, Ann Kerns. He also left behind his two loyal beagles, Ruff and Tutti, and his two zany cats, Beevo and Skeeter. Memorials may be made to Waco Family Abuse Center or your charity of choice.
