Charles E. Bryant October 20, 1927-November 22, 2005 Charles E. Bryant passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM at Seventh and James Baptist Church Saturday, November 26, 2005 with Dr. Raymond Bailey officiating. Charles was born in Denton, Tx to Leslie and Margie Land Bryant. He grew up in Dallas, Tx. and graduated from Crozier Tech in 1945 where he was a member of the City Championship football team. He attended North Texas State College on a football scholarship. In 1947 Charles Bryant was awarded an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. He graduated in 1951 as a 2nd Lieutenant. Following graduation he served in the artillery in the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star. In 1957 Mr. Bryant came to Waco to work for Phillips Petroleum as an Aero Space engineer. After 32 years he retired as Marketing Manager of Hercules, Inc. Charles loved his home, family and visits to his New England home to see the fall foliage. A member of Seventh & James Baptist Church for 47 years, he served as a deacon and a member of the choir. He was a member of the Baylor Senior Choir for 17 years where he was able to enjoy his love of music. Charlie was “counselor, advisor, and fix-it man” and his garage was known as “Bryant’s Garage” to his many friends and Baylor students. The Bryants provided a home away from home for many Baylor students who have remained extended family throughout the years. He was a faithful and loving husband. Charles and his wife of 54 years, “Miz Bryant” had three children: Chip and wife Melody of Round Rock, Tx, Leslie and husband Donnie Cechan of Plano, Tx, and Lisa and husband Joe Vickers of Shreveport, La. Papa was proud of his six grandchildren: Amber Bryant, Randi Shrank, Jenny, Chris and Clint Cechan, and Sarah Vickers, along with his two great grandchildren: Kylie and Anthony. Charles is survived by his loving wife Sally, sister Geri Bolding, brother Leslie Bryant, Jr. and wife Wanda, sister-in-law Nancy and husband Richard Pascoe, and many caring nieces and nephews. Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Lane, and nephews Richard Jolly, Mike Jolly, Paul Bryant, and Dr. Ed Charnock. Memorials may be made to Seventh & James Baptist Church for choir scholarships, the Baylor Senior Choir or a charity of your choice.
