Charles Jones Stephens December 30, 1919 - August 24, 2009 Charles Pop Jones Stephens of Waco passed away Monday, August 24, 2009. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. Carl Freeto officiating. Please dress cool and comfortable. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 28, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Charles was born December 30, 1919 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Henry and Wilma Stephens. He owned Stephens Furniture Company for 40 years. He was a longtime member of Central United Methodist Church in Waco; and a proud member of the Galileans Sunday School Class since 1947. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 56 years, Marguerite Heine Stephens; and all his siblings. He is survived by his daughter, Charlotte Taylor and husband, Bob; son, Ray Hannon Stephens; and daughter, Carla Stephens; grandchildren, Toni Mayes, Troy Taylor, Amber Stephens, Randy Stephens and Laci Gerik; five great-granchildren; and numerous other family members and friends. Pallbearers are Troy Taylor, Randy Stephens, Bob Gerik, Mike Shelley, Manuel Ramon, Jeff Greenawalt and Kevin Greenawalt. Honorary pallbearers are "The Bill & Bobs Crew", Hannibal C. Tadlock, Joe Beard, Richard Dwyer, Joe Morgan, Tommy Morgan, Phil Recindus and Jake Bond. Memorials may be made to charity of your choice.
