March 24, 1918 — August 13, 2001

INGRAM, LEE Charles Lee Ingram, age 83, of Waco passed away Monday, August 13, 2001 at a McGregor nursing home. Services will be at 9:30 AM Friday, August 17th at Wilkirson- Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Rev. Michael O. Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, August 16th at the funeral home. Lee was born March 24, 1918 to Thomas Benjamin and Ollie Lee Botkin Ingram in Flat, TX. He had three brothers, one sister, and three stepsisters. He attended Flat High School and took machinist training at Texas A & M in 1939-40. Lee married Mabel Noreen Johnston on June 4, 1938 in the Grove, TX. After his marriage, he moved to Gatesville and then to Waco in 1943 and worked at William Cameron Company. He also worked at Wilson Building Material in Clifton. Lee was a Mill Foreman for over 30 years and retired in 1983. In 1987, his wife, Mabel, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and he lovingly cared for her until her death in May 1997. Lee was Minister of Music at First Baptist Church of Chilton from 1976 to 1981 and again from 1986 to 1989. Throughout the years, he served as interim song leader for many churches around the Waco area. He attended North Waco Baptist Church until 1965. Lee also attended Western Heights Baptist Church for many years, where he was a member of the Jonathan Class at the time of his death. All his life, he loved music and could play many instruments. He loved nothing better than joining with friends or family to play and sing together. God gave him a gift for music and a beautiful tenor voice, and he used it in the service of the Lord throughout his life. Lee was a dedicated and loving husband, father, brother and friend. By both his words and conduct, he taught his children about faith, commitment, humility, and love. Lee raised his children to love the Lord and the church, and by doing so, allowed them to know the love, friendship, and support that can be found in the family of God. He wasn’t wealthy, or famous, but his life had any impact on almost everyone he met. All who knew him appreciated his gentle manner and good humor. He was kind to all, respected by many, and to his children, he was our “Hero”. Survivors include: Son: Dwain Ingram, Daughter: Sharon Clark both of Waco Grandsons: David Hamilton Ingram and wife, Tiffanie of Winona Stephen Lee Ingram of Addison “Grandchildren of the heart”: Bryan, Susan, and Karen Clark of Waco Sisters: Wanda Herring, Zela Altum and Ruth Altum of Gatesville Many nieces and nephews.
