Charles was one of twelve children born to Jim and Pearl Baker Musick on January 10, 1924 in Grapeland, Texas. He married, and then later divorced, Mildred Stansel Musick with five children born to this union. He later married Marie Hairel on September 16, 1989 and became a friend/stepfather to her three children. In serving his country, he served in the Navy during World War II. He was a self-employed utility contractor. Charles was a founding member of the Beverly Hills Lions Club and received a national honor for his years of service to this organization. He assisted in the formation of the Southern Little League and served many roles in this organization with coaching of many teams through the years to instill in the players to have fun as well as display good sportsmanship. Charles was a faithful member of Service Memorial Methodist Church serving many roles one of which was being a Sunday School teacher to each of his five children. Church was an important aspect of his life as noted in the past several years in his many roles and Christian devotion to Calvary Assembly of God Church. Charles was also an active participant in the community of Beverly Hills, serving on the city council in his younger years. He donated his time and service as acting director of the Lighthouse for the Blind with his faithful companion “Little Bit” always at his side. In his early years with the Beverly Hills Lions Club, he not only sponsored children but also was a camp counselor at the Lions Camp for Crippled Children. Charles was famous for his chili that was one of the Lions Club’s major fund raisers. He was a member of American Legion Post 440. A person’s legacy is not riches, possessions or worldly goods of any kind but it is the way he lived, the lives he touched, the kind of man he was. Charles leaves behind an example for others to always be kind and caring, be of service to others and to serve God. He saw everyone as equals and no one as a stranger. Charles passions in his life were his devotion to his family which included his personal family, his church family and his many friendships he formed during his life. There are many stories that can be told of his love for playing dominoes, being outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, etc. with fishing being a major activity until his vision and health ended this.
