C. Alfred Pochyla February 18, 1911 - September 3, 2010 Alfred "Pokey" Pochyla of Waco passed away Friday, September 3, 2010. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, at Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Rust officiating. Entombment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.Monday, September 6, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Pokey was born February 18, 1911 in West, Texas to Henry and Johannah Itschner Pochyla. He worked for the Katy Railroad and was a rancher. Pokey has been a lifelong Lutheran. He married Alma Lorene Ellis, the love of his life, on May 20, 1939. They were married for 61 wonderful years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; brothers Benjamin Pochyla and Herbert Pochyla. He is survived by his sister Floriene Stern, Levelland, TX; brother Fred Pochyla of Dallas; sister-in-law Connie Pochyla of Tuscon, AZ; nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins.
