He was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers for 25 years and served on the Texas Air Control Board 1971-1986. In his retirement years, Charlie devoted his time to his family, to his church, First Baptist Church of Waco, and to his community. He served for many years on the board of Central Texas Senior Ministries Meals and Wheels. He played his harmonica for senior groups and for Head Start classes. He was a devoted Lady Bears basketball fan. He was an active member of Waco Kiwanis Seniors. He hosted a men's prayer breakfast every Wednesday morning for the past 13 years. He also served on the board for John Wood Ministries. Charlie proudly attended grandchildren's sporting events and graduations. He was a life-long learner who never stopped reading and always found wonder and joy in the world. He is survived by his loving wife, Susie; his children Charlie Jaynes, Jr., and wife, Debbie; Mark Jaynes and wife, Marla; Jan Quesada and husband, Tex; and Jeff Jaynes and wife, Somer; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as his younger brother, Dalton Jaynes and wife, Margaret.
