Charles Richard Brown

Charles "Charlie"  Richard Brown, 77, of Waco, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022 at his home with his family at his side.


Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 3, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, at Parkview Baptist Church with Pastor Joey Crenshaw officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.


Charlie was born July 13, 1945 in Sherman, Texas to Charles Lathan Brown and Alice Catherine Farquhar Brown. Charlie moved to Waco in 1953 and he graduated from University High School in 1963. Charlie married Gloria Darlene Warren on December 30, 2000.


He served his country in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1969. Once he returned, he worked in the printing business and sold insurance for Prudential Insurance Company and Texas Farm Bureau. In his later years, Charlie worked for Alliance Auto Auction, the Bosqueville Independent School District and Sam’s Wholesale until his recent illness forced his retirement.


Charlie enjoyed playing golf and listening to music. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.


He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Billy Wayne Brown and Mark Hoge.


Charlie is survived by his wife, Gloria Darlene Brown of Waco; sons, Jarred Brown and wife, Lauren of Taylor and Jeffery Brown and wife, Melissa of Dallas; brother, James Michael Brown and wife, Cindi of California; sister, Nancy Brown Price and husband, Lane of Waco; step-brother, Jimmy Hoge of Waco; sister-in-law, Carrol McNamara of Waco; step-daughters, Monica Feight and husband, Ray of Waco and Lisa Goodwin and husband, Garth of Moody; grandchildren, David Scott Walton and wife, Darla, Raygan Feight Barron and husband, James, Haley Feight Gonzalez and husband, Zachary, Cody William Feight and wife, Abby and Cutter Goodwin; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.


Pallbearers will be Will Pikett, Richard Crocker, Lane Price, Scott Walton, Cody Feight, James Barron, Zachary Gonzalez and Ray Feight Jr.


Honorary pallbearers will be Garth Goodwin and Cutter Goodwin.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Charlie's memory may be directed to Parkview Baptist Church, 1100 E. Lake Shore Dr., Waco, TX 76708
