Charles Richard McCoy of Waco, Texas, entered Heaven’s gates on Sunday April 17, 2016. His memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 21, at Richfield Christian Church with Rev. David Story and Rev. Alec Ylitalo officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Charles was born in West, Texas, December 7, 1936, to Floyd and Letha McCoy. He graduated from West High School and served in the Army. He attended MCC and Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science. He was a Mason, and a member of many community organizations. He married his best friend and high school sweetheart, Shirley Rydel, on Sept. 7, 1957. They were blessed with two children: their son, Bryan McCoy, and daughter, Sherry McCoy Fair. He was a longtime member of Richfield Christian Church. He worked for Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home for 51 years and loved every minute of it. Charles was honored several years ago when the funeral home conference room was named for him. He loved his family and friends. He loved to sing and regularly participated in the church choir. He loved to fish and hunt and spend time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley McCoy; son, Bryan McCoy and Scott Wright; daughter, Sherry McCoy Fair and husband, David Fair; three grandchildren, Nick Flowers, Taylor Flowers, and Ashton Griffith and husband, Kyler; three great grandchildren, Baxton Flowers, Aubree Flowers, Kyton Griffith and Ashler Griffith (due in Sept. 2016). Honorary pallbearers are Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Staff. Memorials may be made to Richfield Christian Church or the charity of your choice.
