Charles Samuel Appell, Iii

APPELL, III, SAM Charles Samuel Appell, III, age 51 died Thursday, November 13, 2003 at a Temple nursing home. Graveside services will be held at 10am Monday, November 17 at Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Janne A. Osborne officiating. Mr. Appell was born December 23, 1951 in Waco, the fourth child and only son of Martha Saunders Appell and C. Sam Appell, Jr. He attended Waco public schools, graduating Richfield High School in 1969. He attended SMU in Dallas and received a B. A. Degree and Juris Doctorate from Baylor University in 1974. He practiced law in Belton before taking a position in the legal department of Diamond Shamrock in Amarillo and then Tenneco in Denver, Colorado. The last few years of his career were spent in Belton where he practiced criminal law. Sam was preceded in death by his father, C. Sam Appell, Jr. Survivors include his mother, Martha Appell of Waco, children, Marcus Appell of Austin and Jennifer Hall and husband, Ryan of Orange, sisters, Carol Kehl and husband, David of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Susan Appell and Sarah Appell both of Waco, and aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Melbourne Appell of Waco.
