Charles Stephen “Steve” Meeks, 54, of Waco, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at Scott & White in Temple. Graveside services will be held at 2pm Monday, Jan. 24, at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Sunday, Jan. 23, at the funeral home. Mr. Meeks was born Aug. 2, 1950, in Slaton, Texas, to Charles and Rita Campbell Meeks. He worked as a bridge inspector for the Texas Department of Transportation. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Taylor Meeks; daughter, Stephanie Holland, and husband, Kirk, of College Station; son, Shane Meeks, and wife, Melissa of Waco; mother, Rita Young, of Slaton; stepfather, Henry Young; sister, Barbara Vermillion, and husband, Jim, of Maple Valley, Washington; brothers, Kevin Meeks, and wife, Linda, of Lubbock; and Byron Henderson, of Dallas; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; and cherished companions, Jake and Misty. Steve was a loving husband, father, “Papa,” great family man, loving son, devoted friend and coworker, and avid deer hunter.
