Charles W. Montroy passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at his home. He was 84 years old.
The funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, in the Chapel at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Lorena Cemetery. A visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, at the funeral home, with the rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. After the funeral service on Friday morning, there will be a reception for family and friends at Journey Christian Community Church to share food, fellowship, and memories.
Charles W. Montroy was born on November 6, 1939, in Ogdensburg, New York, where he grew up and attended school. He married Dorothy Ann Jones from Waco, Texas, and they enjoyed many happy years together. Charles worked as a firefighter for the City of Waco for thirty years and was also employed at Sears for the same duration. He served in the Air Force for four years and dedicated an additional two years to civil service as a firefighter.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, David Preston and Ethel Montroy of New York; brother, David “Sonny” Montroy; sister, Donna Cutwa; both from New York; and Charles’ son, Charles P. Montroy of Waco, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ann Montroy; his daughters, Christine and her husband, Mark Dempsey, Neveah Montroy; and Kharis Montroy; as well as his three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Charles is also survived by his three brothers and one sister, residing in New York.
The pallbearers will be, Mark D. Dempsey Jr., James D. Dempsey, Rickie Jones Jr., Patrick Haigood, Mike Keys, and Taylor Trollinger.
