Charles “Charley” Burch Sr. passed away Friday, December 15, 2023.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Waco Memorial Park with the Reverend Lester Adams officiating. There will be a visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home.
Charley was born February 14, 1932, in Malone, TX, to Samuel George Burch and Cecil Gladys Burch. He retired from General Tire and owned a car lot for many years. He was a Master Mason serving as Master of Herring Masonic Lodge 1224, from 1979-80. He served in the Army with the tank division of Hell on Wheels during the Korean War, obtaining the rank of Master Sargeant in his two years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Kathy Burch; sisters, Polly Thurmond, and Louise Willis; brother, Foster Burch; brother-in-laws, Harry Thurmond, Forrest Redding and Woodrow Willis; sister-in-law, Dorothy Burch; son-in-law, Harold Pirelo Jr.; and stepdaughter, Cindy Haggerty.
Charley is survived by his daughter, Deborah L. Pirelo; sons, Charlie Burch Jr., (Karen), and Jonathan, (Melissa) Burch; stepson, David Haggerty (Janie); sister, Sally Redding; as well as 13 grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Pallbearers are Tom Wright, Chris Burch, Jonathan Burch, John Flippen, J.J. Flippen, A. J. Martinez.
Memorials may be made to Gideons.org in lieu of flowers to provide Bibles.
