Charlotte Garrett Moore February 28, 1915 – March 28, 2006 Charlotte Garrett Moore, a longtime resident of Waco, died March 28 in Tyler. She was born in Patrick, Texas, on February 28, 1915, and was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene H. “Gene” Moore, Sr., and by her six sisters and one brother. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 1 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd., Waco, with a service following at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at WHB and then interment at Oakwood Cemetery immediately following the chapel service. Dr. Michael Massar, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Tyler will officiate. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carole Jean and Maxey Abernathy of Tyler and her son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Sheila Moore of Dallas. She is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Jean Ann and David Vickers and their two daughters, Emma and Charlotte of Kansas City, Missouri; Glenn and Leslie Abernathy of Lafayette, Colorado; Paula and Jason Woodbury and their son, Garrett of Dallas; Geoffrey Moore of Los Angeles, California and Emily and Seth Kenton of Columbia, Maryland. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were very special to her. Her family was her life. During World War II, Charlotte worked as a parachute packer and inspector at the Blackland Army Air Base in Waco. Later in her life, she worked for the McLennan County Tax Office until she retired. Charlotte loved being with family and friends and being in the middle of all activities, but she especially loved to fish. Pallbearers will be Glenn Abernathy of Lafayette, Colorado; Geoffrey Moore of Los Angeles, California; David Vickers of Kansas City, Missouri; Jason Woodbury of Dallas, Texas; David Stiver of Madisonville and Jack Schwan of Waco. The family suggests that memorials, if desired, be made to the Eugene H. and Charlotte Moore Endowed Scholarship, Baylor Law School, Waco, Texas or to a charity of choice.
