Our beloved family member, Theodore Christopher “Chris” Carson, Jr., went to his heavenly home on November 20, 2017, after a long struggle with Lewy Body Dementia. Chris was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after spending 75 years on earth, with the last 37 of them being in Waco, Texas. The celebration of his homecoming will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 28, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home located in Waco. A meal will be graciously provided to the family by First Woodway afterward. Chris was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on August 25, 1942, to Theodore Christopher Carson, Sr., and Montie Doris Ariel Fuqua Carson. He grew up in Corpus, where he met the love of his life in middle school, Judith “Judy” Louise Harrell Carson. They married December 22, 1962, and had four children, all of whom now live in the Waco area. Chris graduated from WB Ray High School in Corpus Christi, and then attended Baylor University in Waco. He joined the United States Army in 1965. During his time in the Army, he was trained in the Hawk Missile program while stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, later transferring to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he served in the Officer Candidate School as an Instructor, as well as placement of OCS candidates into combat duty during the Vietnam era. He loved the United States of America, was a proud citizen, and honored all veterans whenever he had an opportunity. Chris was an avid reader and could carry a conversation on any given topic for lengths of time, not always appreciated by his kids, and sound like an expert. Those conversations and knowledgeable words of wisdom, loving insight, and guidance are dearly missed. Chris loved the Baylor Bears and contributed to precious unforgettable memories by raising his children and grandchildren walking the Baylor campus, sharing shakes and hamburgers at the local Health Camp on the Circle, and attending countless Baylor athletic games and events. We will carry on the tradition! Chris attended First Woodway Baptist Church. Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Montie Carson; and sisters, Doris Nichols and Teddy Moore. He is survived by his former wife, Judith Louise Harrell Carson, of Robinson; son, Theodore Christopher (Chris) Carson III and wife, Elizabeth, and sons, Joshua and Jacob Carson of Lorena; daughter, Melody Anne Carson of Robinson; daughter, Heather Christine Carson Foit and husband, Luke, and children, Jessika and Chantz Judge, and Brooke Foit of Hewitt; son, Joshua Gideon Carson and wife, Becky, of Robinson, and children, Joshua Guice, Anna and Abby Carson of Robinson; brother, Herbert Carson and wife, Penny, of Waco, formerly of Oregon; sister, Sarah Carson Grisham and husband, Sonny, of Lexington, South Carolina; sister, Cathy Carson Nichols and husband, Ted, of Williams, Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews living from the East coast to the West coast. He loved his family dearly and will have a very large family reunion once all are together again. The family would like to thank the healthcare workers at the Westview Nursing Home in McGregor, Veterans Hospital of Waco, Lakeshore Village Nursing Home, and especially Interim Hospice for taking such wonderful care of our loved one. The family invites you to leave a message or memory on our “Tribute Wall” at www.WHBfamily.com.
