Christine Gerik January 28, 1924 - March 5, 2009 Christine Gerik of Lacy Lakeview passed away at Providence Hospital Thursday, March 5, 2009. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 9, at Waco Memorial Park with Rev. Irudayaraj Nelapatti-Thomas officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 8, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Christine was born January 28, 1924, in Waco, Texas, to Joseph and Milada Navara Hynek. She graduated from La Vega High School. On June 29, 1942, she and Henry L. Gerik were married at St. Mary's of the Assumption in Waco. Christine was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waco. She worked at St. Vincent DePaul Discount Store as manager from 1967-1975. Later she worked in the home furnishing department at J.C. Penney from 1976 and retired December 1993. Christine volunteered for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for several years. Christine was very proud of her two grandchildren, Heather and Eric, and attended as many of their school and church activities as possible. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Henry, in 2005; her daughter, Susan K. Sanders in 2002; and her brother, John V. Hynek. She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Moraw and husband, Eugene, of Lorena, TX; granddaughter, Heather Moraw of Euless; grandson, Eric Moraw of Lorena; and her sister, Annie Marie Snokhous of West Palm Beach, Florida.
