OGLESBEE, CHRISTINE Christine Martin Cox Oglesbee, 92 of Hewitt died Saturday, January 8, 2005 at a local care center. Services will be held at 10am Wednesday, January 12 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Roy Marshall, pastor of First Baptist Church of Hewitt officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Tuesday, January 11 at the funeral home. In 1912 she was born in Oglesby, Texas to Thomas Clark Martin and Minnie Melton Martin. Christine attended school in Oglesby and Waco. In 1928 she married Lee S. Cox. To this union three children were born. During these years she helped with the family business. As a homemaker, she faithfully supported and encouraged her children in all their activities. Her abilities, talents and personality were also exercised as a sales representative and secretary for two local businesses. In 1963 Christine was married to Emit Ross Oglesbee who died in 1986. During their years together they enjoyed family get-togethers, neighbors, and their many acquaintances in Triple L activities at First Baptist Church of Hewitt. For many years Chris worked with a group known as the “Paper Dolls” preparing the Hewitt “What Not” newspaper. As an active member of Martha Grace Sunday School Class, she served as social chairman and group leader always encouraging her friends to remain faithful to and active in their class and church activities. Her parents, one sister, Doris Flowers, and two brothers, Clyde and Clark Martin, all preceded her in death. Survivors are her daughters, Dorothy Lee Antonson and husband, Rev. Newman Antonson of Wichita, Kansas and Barbara Jean Gill and husband, Bobby Gill of Holiday Island, Arkansas; son, Thomas Cox and wife, Mary Anne of Willow Grove, Texas; grandchildren, Debbie Mai of Wichita, Kansas; Robbie Jenkins of Lawton, Oklahoma; Peggy Burns of Derby, Kansas ; Jody Gill, Andy Gill and Lori Smith all of Kansas City, Kansas, Claire Copeland of Moody, Texas , Elaine Smith of Temple and Julie Keever of Seattle, Washington. Additional blessings include 18 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Special nephews include Joe Flowers and wife Patty, Tom Flowers and wife Betty all of Waco, and Clark Martin, Jr. and Glen Martin of California. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Memorial Fund at the First Baptist Church of Hewitt.
