Clarence E. Lumpkin January 6, 1922 - September 5, 2011 Clarence E. Lumpkin of Crawford passed away Monday, September 5, 2011. Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 9, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Walter Albers officiating. Entombment will follow at Waco Memorial Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Clarence was born January 6, 1922 in Greenock, Texas to J. B. and Zuela Sanders Lumpkin. He married Ellamae Amelia Kroll, the love of his life, on October 15th, 1942, a marriage that has lasted 69 years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellmead. He served in the Conservation Corps, the U. S. Army and the U. S. Air Force during WWII. He worked at Ray Thomas Motors; and retired from the VA Medical Center as a mechanical bio-medical engineer. His hobbies were fishing and playing the guitar. Clarence set records before he got out of competitive bass fishing. He competed in the State Bass Tournament eight times; and won three championships; and he placed in the top 10, six times. He ranked among the all-time greats in his division. Clarence entered his first tournament in 1962 and found instant success. In 1963, he won the championship on Lake Belton. In 1964, he won the championship at Lake of the Pines; then in 1966, he won the championship again at the Lake of the Pines. He and his wife founded the Mr. and Mrs. Bass Club. It was the first husband-wife competitive fishing club of its kind. He was a great man that was loved and respected by all. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Cheryl Eleanor Lumpkin Stovall. He is survived by his wife, Ellamae Amelia Lumpkin; daughter, Tommye Joan Summey and husband, Les of Waco; grandchildren, Dean Stovall, and wife, Elizabeth of Moody; Ty Summey and wife, Heather of Waco; Tammy Boling and husband, Darrell of Bruceville-Eddy; and Stacy Grabenstein and husband, Jason, of Waco. Also surviving are 10 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
