VAUGHAN, JR., CLAUDE ADRIAN Adrian Vaughan, 80, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 11:30 AM, Monday, May 16 at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Durham officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial South. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, May 15, from 6-8:00 PM at the funeral home at 6101 Bosque Blvd. Adrian was born February 27, 1925 in Brownwood, Texas. He was the son of Claude Adrian Vaughan, Sr. and Winnie Irene Vaughan. Adrian moved to Waco in the early 1930’s, where he completed the rest of his schooling. He was a graduate of Waco High in 1942 and Baylor University in 1945 with a B.A. in Journalism. In 1945, he married Margaret Rice of Waco. He then received a Masters degree from the University of Texas in Journalism. In 1955, he moved to Lubbock, Texas where he was Public Information Director at Texas Tech. In 1963, he produced one of the first multi screen presentations which was narrated by Governor John Connally. He became a professor of Journalism and Public Relations at Baylor University until his retirement in 1993. He was the first recipient of PRSA’S “Adrian Vaughan Lifetime Achievement Award”. He is survived by sons Steven Rice Vaughan of Garland and Adrian Scott Vaughan of Waco and four grandchildren, Joel, Rachel, Aaron and Chelsea Vaughan.
