Clifford Raymond Prickett Sr. January 24, 1933 - February 2, 2010 Cliff passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 in Garland, TX at the age of 77 after a long battle with leukemia and diabetes. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 12:00 noon, Saturday, prior to the chapel service. Cliff was born January 24, 1933 in Bellmead, TX to David and Bessie Prickett. Cliff was raised in Waco, TX as a devoted Catholic and attended Catholic grammar school. Auntie Laura would watch over him while his mom had to work. She taught him the love of reading. His first real paying job was at a watermelon stand for his uncle in Bryan, TX. He was never as rich as he was on the bus ride home with his summer pay in is pocket. While there he built a close bond with his cousins Joy and Tootsie. He worked at the Orpheum Theater in Waco, with Betty as a tenager. After finishing high school in Waco, he started Baylor University and was downtown at the pool hall when the 1953 tornado ripped through downtown Waco. He later moved to Houston and completed his CPA at the University of Houston. While he worked at St. Lukes Hospital in the blood bank, he met Tina Duncan #1 and they were married for seven years and had two children. Cliff met Rose Collette #2 at the local blood bank and they were married for 14 years and he acquired two additional children. Cliff started with Reed Rockbit in 1967 were he traveled all over the country. He moved to Garland, TX in 1978 to open a regional office for Reed Rockbit in Dallas. Cliff ran into his high school sweetheart Betty #3 and they were married in December of 1981 and he acquired three additional children. He was with Reed Rockbit for 23 years till he retired in 1992. Then he worked with Betty in her business till they retired in 1996. They have enjoyed the last 14 years in retirement bliss, visiting family and friends. He was a devoted husband and father, who loved to spend time with family and friends. He touched many lives with his positive outlook on life and his generous heart. He left us too soon, and will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Clifford Raymond Prickett Jr; and son-in-law, Benny Miller. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Betty Brewer Prickett; daughter, Viola "Vicki" Schmidt and husband, Douglas of Caldwell; step-children, Bernidette George and husband, Danny, of Houston; Liz Miller of Houston; Chelynn Sadler and husband, Mark, of Garland; Gary Brewer of Maryland; Craig Brewer & Angie of Princeton. The grandchildren are Christina Pettit and husband, Jonathan; Douglas Burns; David Burns and wife, Jennifer; William Scott and wife, Connie; Norman Scott, Michelle Carter, Jacque Wagner and husband, Bill; Tersa Jones and husband, Cody; Mathew Sadler, Anthony and wife, Jenny; Jeremy Brewer, Debra and Jennifer Brewer. Great grandchildren are Joshua and Madelyn Pettit, Mason Carter, Mia and Nicklas Wagner, and Ella Skye Jones. He had many other family and friends not listed that he considered a blessing in his life. Pallbearers are Anthony Brewer, David Burns, Douglas Burns, Jonathan Pettit, Matthew Sadler and Norman Scott. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
