Col. Carl Ray Norton February 5, 1919 – June 17, 2006 Col. Carl Ray Norton USAF-Retired, after a long battle with Parkinson’s, passed way to be with his Lord and Savior on June 17, 2006. Visitation will be at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey on Tuesday June 20, 2006 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and services will be held at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 21, 2006 with Pastor Paul Krupicka officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North Cemetery. Carl was born on February 05, 1919 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was the eldest of five 5 children. He was an accomplished and highly decorated Air Force commander who served in WWII, the Korean War & Sardinia. His Bomb Squadron was among the first to bomb the Abbe de Monte Casino. He served with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, SEATO, NATO as well as three 3 tours with the Pentagon. Carl was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eleanor Norton; his sons, Don Norton and family, Bill Norton and family; daughter, Nancy Norton Schumacher and family; his two younger sisters, Willie Snyder and Faye White as well as his grandchildren, Leigh Brown and family and Lance Schumacher and family along with four great-grandchildren. He was devoted to God and his church, St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Civitan, Meals-on-Wheels, Campfire, Boys-n-Girls Scouts of American, American Cancer Society and many other societies.
