While at the University of Texas she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. In the mid 1950’s she earned her teaching certificate from Baylor University. On February 20, 1945, Connie married John B Fisher, Jr. of Waco. At the time John was still on active duty with the U.S. Armed Forces. Connie and John helped organize the Arthritis Foundation in Waco and were active in the Waco Arthritis Foundation. Connie and John were longtime members of the First Baptist Church of Waco where John served as a leader of the Church. She suffered for many years with severe rheumatoid arthritis. Despite living with considerable pain, she virtually never complained or let it prevent her from living a full useful and happy life. Connie was a loving Mother and Grandmother and a friend to many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
