Cora Skillern August 21, 1903 – January 15, 2006 Cora Skillern, 102, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2006 in Mart, TX. Services will be at 3:00 pm Tuesday, January 17, at Mart Church of Christ with burial following at Mart Cemetery. Visitation will begin prior to the service at 2:00 pm at the church. Cora was born August 21, 1903 in Palestine, TX to Frank and Nettie Campbell. She married James Wiley Skillern, Sr. on October 15, 1922. They had two sons, J.W. Skillern, Jr. and Delma F. Skillern. She lived in Mart most of her life and was a member of the Mart Church of Christ. She is survived by son, Delma Skillern and wife, Lura of Texarkana; daughter-in-law, Betty Skillern of Ft. Worth; granddaughters, Carol Skillern, Denise Stone, Glenda Hickerson, and Nancy Weaver; 9 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Katie Hall and Margaret Kellum; a devoted niece, Mearl Kitchens and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, J. W. Skillern, Jr. and grandson, James Keese Skillern.
