Cristina Rodriguez-Maya

Cristina Rodriguez-Maya passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 28, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at home.


Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2023 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Father Benjamin Magnaye officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.


Cristina was born July 24, 1928, in Durango, Mexico, to Federico Rodriguez and Paulina Andrade and was the youngest of seven siblings. She was married to Rosendo Maya-Pastrana for fifty years, they had one son and six daughters. Together with her husband, they owned a hardware store that provided for their children. She worked hard at raising their family and encouraged them to be the best that they could be. She was always welcoming to everyone. Her biggest joy was seeing her family under one roof. Besides enjoying her family, she loved nature, music, and treating everyone to her delicious home-cooked food. Her love for nature was shown by her ability to nurture hummingbirds and having a pet deer during her youth. She loved to knit and embroider, she was extremely talented at her craft and gifted her loved ones with items made from the heart.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Rosendo Maya-Pastrana, her wonderful son, Rosendo Maya-Rodriguez, her life of the party daughter, Ines Maya-Rodriguez, and her youthful and beautiful daughter, Yolanda Maya-Rodriguez. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Jose and Jesus Andrade, sisters Isabel and Francisca Rodriguez.


She is survived by her four daughters, Mely Saucedo, Guadalupe Palacios and husband Arturo Sr, Elena Quintana and husband Juan Sr, and Aurora Lara and husband Miguel. Additional survivors include her brother Antonio Andrade and sister Maria de la Luz Rodriguez. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.


Pallbearers include grandsons Flavio Saucedo, Jaime Saucedo, Arturo Palacios Jr., Cesar Palacios-Maya, Sergio Ventura, Juan Quintana Jr., Marcos Quintana, Miguel Lara-Maya, George Lara-Maya, and Chris Lara-Maya.
