Curtis Lee Lindsey November 21, 1910 – August 12, 2007 Curtis Lee Lindsey, 96, of Speegleville, went Home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday morning, August 12, 2007, at his residence. Services will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at Western Heights Baptist Church. His grandson, Brent Lightsey and dear friends, Rev. Curtis Holland and Mitchell Parrish, will be officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Wilkirson Hatch Bailey Funeral Home from 5 – 7 p.m. Mr. Lindsey was born on November 21, 1910, in Waco, Texas. As a young boy, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. At age fourteen, he was baptized in the Bosque River. He was a lifelong resident of McLennan County. He married Selma Katherine Pack on February 23, 1935. They were married for almost 67 years and they were the best of friends. They were very active members of Western Heights Baptist Church for over 48 years. Mr. Lindsey as a deacon and he also served on many committees over the years. He has been a Sunday school teacher as well as served as superintendent of Sunday school. In earlier years, Mr. Lindsey was a very active member of the WHBC Fellowships Club, which he enjoyed thoroughly until the beginning of this year when his health would no longer allow him to attend their “play days”. Mr. Lindsey and his brother started Lindsey Bros. Feed Store in Waco in the 1930’s. He was a World War II veteran serving with the United States Army Infantry, 106th Division. He served our country proudly when he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war ended, Mr. Lindsey became a dairy farmer and also raised beef cattle until he retired. Mr. Lindsey served on the Speegleville School Board when his children were young. He helped his brother and cousin rejuvenate the Whitehall Cemetery Association, where he had served on the board. He has always been happy to serve anywhere he was needed. Mr. Lindsey was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend to so many. He was truly a Godly gentleman and he set a Christian example for all of us. He always had a smile on his face, a twinkle in his eye and a firm handshake or hug for everyone around him. He will be greatly missed. What a wonderful reunion he must be having in Heaven with his lovely wife, Selma, his precious daughter, Mary Kay Lightsey and his brothers, Joe Ray and George. Mr. Lindsey is survived by one son, Joe Lindsey, a son-in-law, Glynn Lightsey, both of Speegleville. Grandchildren; Sherrie Lightsey of Waco, Brent and wife, Nicole Lightsey, Ft Worth, Susan Lightsey, of Carrollton, Hayden Lindsey of New Orleans and great-granddaughters; Jenna and Maci Lightsey, of Ft. Worth. Sister; Veta Lindsey, of Waco. Brothers, Ted Lindsey, of Gholson, Truett and wife, Theresa Lindsey, of Woodway. Also many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Pallbearers will be Hayden Lindsey, Joe Burk Lindsey, Claude Lindsey, Charles Lindsey, Stephen Lindsey and Tom Lindsey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sid Clark, Charlie Pack, Bob Pack, Johnnie High, Steven Hill and Jonathan Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Western Heights Baptist Church, Whitehall Cemetery Association or Bluebonnet Hospice. Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Bluebonnet Hospice for all of their loving care for Papa during these last three months. With their help, he was able to return home until the Lord called him to his Heavenly Home.
