D. Earle Wolfe

WOLFE, D. EARLE D. Earle Wolfe, 84, of Woodway, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at his home after a lengthy illness. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2003 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel 6101 Bosque Blvd. with the Dr. Jeff Smith and Rev. Dawn Gilliland officiating. Entombment will be at Waco Memorial-South Chapel Hill Mausoleum. Visitation with the family will be 6-7 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2003 at the Funeral Home. Mr. Wolfe was born April 3, 1919 in Moatsville, West Virginia to G.M. and Alta Marsh Wolfe. He graduated high school in Philippi, West Virginia in 1938. He married Sybil Burleson April 6, 1945 in Del Rio. Mr. Wolfe served in the U.S. Army Air Forces from April 1942 to February 1946 as an Aerial Engineer. He was stationed at Tarrant Field, Fort Worth; Laughlin AFB, Del Rio, and Clark AFB in the Philippine Islands. As a youth he worked in the Thornhill Greenhouse business in Philippi, West Virginia. Shortly after military service, he began working for the federal civil service with the Air Force at Laughlin AFB where he held several different positions in the Civil Engineering Squadron before retiring in June 1973. He was a long time Methodist and was a member of Woodway First United Methodist Church. He also was a Mason with membership in Fort McKavett Masonic Lodge #750; Commandry #28 Knights Templar of Texas / San Angelo; and York Rite Bodies of Del Rio Chapter #243 and Council #178. He was also a member of NARFE. An avid home shop worker, Mr. Wolfe did extensive additions and improvements to his home. He took pride in doing his own home and car repairs and in keeping a beautiful lawn. He worked in the Boy Scout and Girl Scout programs with his son and daughter and with his grandchildren. He helped with countless scouting and school projects over many years. He and his wife moved to Woodway in 1984 from Del Rio to be near their two children and grandchildren. Mr. Wolfe always put his family first and was a veritable role model for them. Mr. Wolfe was preceded in death by his son, Gary Burleson Wolfe; his parents; and brothers, Dorsey and Denzil Wolfe. Survivors include, wife, Sybil of Woodway; daughter, Shay Wolfe Cinek of Aquilla; sisters, Doris Wolfe and Freda Ryan of Philippi, West Virginia; one niece and six nephews; grandsons, Gary Burleson Wolfe, Jr. and wife Angela of Crescent City, California, Justin Marc Ducharme and wife Brittany of Holliday, Missouri; granddaughters, Shannan Wolfe Boatwright and husband Michael of The Colony and Joy Ducharme Tomochek and husband John of Phoenix, Arizona; great-grandchildren, Hillary and Caitlyn Boatwright and Joli Marie Ducharme. Pallbearers will be Justin Ducharme, Gary Wolfe, Jr., Robert Young, Wayne King, Jeremy King, and Michael Boatwright. Honorary Pallbearer will be John Tomochek, II.
