Daisy Hawkins Kennedy

September 13, 1924 — February 12, 2007

Daisy Hawkins Kennedy September 13, 1924 – February 13, 2007 Daisy Hawkins Kennedy went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 12, 2007. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 16 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Tom Bedichek and Joe Keys officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 15 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Daisy was born September 13, 1924 in Coolidge, TX to Earet and Minnie Ola Hawkins. She had been an active member of Columbus Avenue Church of Christ since 1974, where she participated in the Ladies’ Bible Class and the church food and clothing programs. She supported her husband throughout his military career, living in Germany, Japan and numerous bases in the United States, including 14 communities in 11 years. She befriended others easily, and frequently served in leadership roles in military spouses’ organizations soon after moving to the various bases. Daisy is survived by her husband, Charles R. Kennedy, Sr.; son, Charles R. Kennedy, Jr. and wife, Kathy; sister, Liz Marie Flick; grandchildren Erin Beth Kennedy and Paul Kennedy; and great-grandson, Elijah Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Earnest and Elmer Hawkins. Those are the basic facts and statistics about Daisy’s life. But here’s what her family and friends will think about when we remember her with deep love in our hearts: We’ll remember how much Daisy loved gardening and flowers. She took special pride in her greenhouse. We’ll remember that she was an avid birdwatcher, and had a particular love for cardinals and finches. We’ll remember, especially sweetly, her homemade fudge. She made it a Christmas tradition, and we know—for a fact—that it was the best fudge in America. We’ll remember Daisy’s fashion sense; her height made the most of clothes, and her outfits were always impeccable, with tasteful colors, textures and lines. She always looked perfectly put together. But most of all, we’ll remember how much she loved us and how we loved her. She will be missed by all those who had the blessing of knowing her. Pallbearers are Henry Apperson, Jim Hail, Jim Hardwick, Paul Holder, Bob Hudson, Clyde Koehne, Ken Mueller and Mike White. In you would like to remember Daisy in a tangible way, the Kennedy family suggests that in lieu of flowers, that a contribution be made in her name to American Lung Association of Texas, 5926 Balcones Dr., Austin, TX 78731 or to Columbus Avenue Church of Christ, 1525 Columbus Ave., Waco, 76701. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our “Memorial Guestbook” at www.wilkirsonhatchbailey.com. Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey
