Dalton Henry Jaynes February 11, 1926 March 4, 2014 Dalton Jaynes, 88, of Waco, Texas passed away March 4, 2014. Following cremation, later internment will be in the Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, at the First United Methodist Church of Waco with Rev. Wayne Williams officiating. Mr. Jaynes was born February 11, 1926, in Waco to Charlie and Ethelda Dalton Jaynes. He married Jo Beth Campbell on March 28, 1948. She died October 28, 1990, and he married Margaret Saunders Richardson on November 12, 1991. He graduated from Waco High School in 1943 and from Four C Business College in 1947. He was employed by Lehigh Portland Cement Co., formerly Universal Atlas Cement Co. at the Waco Plant for 20 years and was transferred to headquarters offices in Pittsburgh, PA and subsequently to Allentown, PA, where he retired as Manager of Personnel in 1988, after more than 40 years of service. He was a past member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and twice past-chairman of the Safety Division of the Portland Cement Association. He served on the submarine U.S.S. Lionfish in the South Pacific during WWII. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Wesleyan Workers Sunday School Class and was a Stephen Minister with his church. He was a past-president of the Kiwanis Club of Waco Seniors, twice Kiwanian of the Year and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a son, Craig Jaynes and wife, Jan of Kilgore, Texas; a daughter, Beth Fisher and husband, Rich of Reston, Virginia; a daughter, Laurie Hess and husband, Scott of Freedom, Pa., a step-son, Trey West and wife, Leanne of Colleyville, Texas; three grandchildren, one step-grandson; sister-in-law, Susie Jaynes of Waco; sister-in-law, Ginger Swearengin; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 4901 Cobbs Dr., Waco, Texas 76710, the Kiwanis Club of Waco Seniors Scholarship Fund or to the charity of choice.
