Dan H. Hollingsworth, Sr.

HOLLINGSWORTH, SR., DAN HARVESTON Dan Harveston Hollingsworth, Sr., age 81 of Waco went to meet his maker Tuesday, March 30, 2004. Services will be held at 11:30am Friday, April 2 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Pastor Steve Johnson and Associate Pastor Keith Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Thursday, April 1 at the funeral home. Mr. Hollingsworth was born January 2, 1923 in Gatesville, Texas to Coryell County Sheriff Walter W. Hollingsworth, Sr. and Willie Birdie Ridens Hollingsworth. He graduated from Gatesville High School in 1941. He then served three years in the U.S. Army Air Force, completing a tour of duty in Morocco as an air craft welder, attaining the rank of sergeant. After settling in Waco he became employed with Brazos Electric Power Coop in 1950. Dan retired from Brazos in 1986 as supervisor of electro mechanical technicians. Dan married Reita Joyce Daily December 17, 1949 in Waco. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Walter W. Hollingsworth, Jr., Pat Neff Hollingsworth, and Rev. Tom Connally Hollingsworth; sisters, Grace Page, Willie Mae Frazer and Luna Farr; nephew, Tom Connally Hollingsworth, II; great nephew, Todd Jones and great niece, Brady Blair Robertson. He is survived by his wife, Reita; sons, Dan H. Hollingsworth, Jr. and Ken W. Hollingsworth; sister, Byrd Ann Bromser and husband, Maj. Paul F. Bromser, Retired; grandchildren, Reita S. Hollingsworth, Dan H. Hollingsworth, III, and Kara L. Peterson; great-grandchildren, Alexandra Ponce, Thalia Ponce, Ian Hollingsworth, and Tatum Peterson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
