Daniel G. Selby, 61, of Waco, Texas, formerly of Monaca, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, July 18, 2016. Dan, known affectionately as “Danny” by his siblings and “Uncle Big Guy” by his niece, Eileen, will be sadly missed by all. His burial will be private. He was born July 6, 1955, in Rochester, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Frank and Nellie Selby of Monaca, Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Monaca High School, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Ohio State University. Throughout his life, Dan worked as a Database Programmer for NCR, TransAmerica, IBM, and currently he was employed by the Texas Farm Bureau in Waco. Much of his free time was spent hiking, traveling, and studying mathematics, history, geography, philosophy, economics, and various cultures. He was a quiet, thoughtful man, willing to help when needed. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Larry and Charles Selby of Pennsylvania, and Joseph of Wyoming. He is survived by one brother, Thomas Selby of Delaware; as well as three sisters, Margaret (Tim) Stuart of Pennsylvania, Geraldine Selby of Pennsylvania, and Marlene (Paul) Stock of Texas; three sisters-in-law, Dolly Selby, Nancy (Selby) Morris of Pennsylvania and Kate Selby of Wyoming; and numerous nieces and nephews.
