Darlene Virginia Barrett

Darlene Barrett passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 27, at Jacob Shannon Evergreen Cemetery, Dobbin, Texas, with Michael Lindsay officiating. Burial will follow.

Darlene was born July 26, 1931, in Premont, Texas, to Clay and Hesper Harbin. Darlene was educated at Montgomery High School. She worked at Marstaller Motors and enjoyed decorating and preparing for gatherings with her dear friends. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling, and shopping. She was known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as ‘Darlin’ and was always prepared to help out in any way including meals, sewing, laundry, and caring for their illnesses. She was an excellent seamstress who could design any creation requested. She was a longstanding member of Lake Shore Baptist Church and active for many years in the choir, Sunday School classes, and fellowship suppers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Daryl Barrett; sister, Delores Sales; and many dear friends from the Supper Club.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Donald H. Barrett; son, Doyle Barrett, and wife, Pam (Elm Mott); Darla Barrett Lawless (Beaumont); sister, Dorothy June Harbin (Dobbin); brother, Daniel Clay Harbin (Plantersville); five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to her beloved Lakeshore Baptist Church.
