Darwin Wayne Miller Sr. joined his family in heaven on April 25, 2023. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday April 30, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, with a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. Monday May 1, 2023, at Oakwood Cemetery with Reverend Steve Holston officiating.
Darwin was born in Waco, in a house on Lasker Avenue, October 29, 1930. He attended Waco schools and entered Baylor University at the age of 16. After graduating he married Doris Gene Gholson October 22, 1951. Darwin worked with his father , Freddie Miller, in the car business, and later with his son, Darwin Miller, Jr. Darwin loved everything about life. In particular, he loved to fish, winning several local fishing tournaments. But most of all he loved God, his family, and his country, retiring from the Army Reserve with a rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a member of First Methodist Church. Darwin loved all his friends in the Wesleyan Workers Chapel Class. They were so kind to him.
Darwin was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Miller; his parents, Freddie and Mary Miller; and his brother, Donald Ray Miller and wife, Beth.
Surviving Darwin are his sons, Darwin Wayne Miller, Jr., and wife, Suzanne, James Miller and wife, Megan; grandchildren, Darwin Wayne Miller III and wife, Holly, and Robyn Miller Beckham and husband, Justin; three great-grandchildren, Alden Miller, Oliver Miller, and Nova Rene’ Beckham; his nieces; and one nephew.
