David was the eldest of two sons of Evans and Loyce Moody of Navasota, Texas. He grew up working full time on his family’s ranch in Piedmont, Texas. David graduated as class Salutatorian from his Navasota High School in 1962. He attended Texas A&M University and transferred to Baylor University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Business Administration. He was member of Beta Gamma Sigma. During his first year of college at A&M, David met the lifetime love of his life, Charlotte Kaye Harbour on a blind date. He transferred to Baylor the following year and David and Charlotte were married on March 19, 1965 at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church where they have been faithful members ever since. They celebrated over 41 wonderful years in marriage. Charlotte is the daughter of Katherine and the late Gaston Harbour of Shamrock, Texas. David began his career as a tire engineer for General Tire, but soon decided to go in business for himself. He formed DEMCO Trailers which he and Charlotte successfully ran for over 18 years. David was a genius at building things out of metal. He built horse and cattle trailers for many years. And later designed the first adjustable combine trailer for which he obtained a United States Trademark Patent. Upon the sale of DEMCO in 1980, David returned to his farming and ranching roots where he happily spent his days taking care of the land and animals with which he had been entrusted. He was past-president of the Eastside Rotary Club, life-long member of the Texas Southwest Cattle Raisers Association, Baylor Alumni Association, and Columbus Avenue Baptist Church. David loved the land, traveling, reading, and visiting with his friends and family. His interesting stories and contagious laughter brightened all of our lives. Growing up in a Christian home, David accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior as a young boy on Mother’s Day. David was always faithful to his Christian heritage and was there to lend a hand when needed. He carried that same faithfulness in rearing his own family. Preceding David in death were his parents and brother, John William Bill Moody. He was a loving and kind father who wanted the best for his children and was always there when they needed him. He will be forever missed.
