David Hoppenstein April 7, 1916 - May 30, 2013 David Hoppenstein, age 97, of Waco passed away peacefully on May 30, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 31, at Agudath Jacob Cemetery. He was born in Waco on April 7, 1916, the son of Max and Sarah Hoppenstein. He was a graduate of Baylor University and Baylor Law School, and afterwards attended Harvard Law School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed in New Orleans and Panama. He was also a real estate broker and active in the real estate business until he was 93. In 1947, he married his beautiful wife, the former Lorraine Stein. David was an active member of Congregation Agudath Jacob and supporter of the Jewish Federation of Waco and numerous other charitable organizations. He was preceded in death by his son, Howard Hoppenstein; and siblings, Rose Bisman, Lillian Goldstein, and Archie Hoppenstein. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 65 years; and children, Marsha Lev Michael of Dallas and Norman Hoppenstein Macia of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Eric and Jordan Lev, and Rachel and Julie Hoppenstein; sister, Naomi Dunn Fred of Dallas; and many nieces and nephews.
