David Mark Williams, 73, of Alexandria, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home on November 9, 2022. There will be a memorial service in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, beginning at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 2, conducted by Rev. Wayne Blackshear. Family and friends will be able to visit briefly before and after the 1:00 memorial service, and then all who wish to attend will meet at Faulkenberry Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. for a Masonic graveside service to be held before interment. Attendees are then welcome to return to Groesbeck Funeral Home for further visitation before their departure home.
David was born and raised in Waco. After graduating from University High School in 1968, he went on to graduate from Texas A&M, and later in life, from TSTC Waco and the University of New Mexico. He was a Past Worshipful Master of Fidelis Lodge #1127 AF&AM in Waco. From being a deacon in the church, a cost estimator, a microchip technician, to being a high school math teacher, David always tried to help encourage people to be better. He was a teacher by nature, albeit not a very patient one.
He enjoyed trying to bring history back to life, from the hunt for Mrs. Keaton's cream puff recipe, to his grandmother Cumi's biscuit recipe or his Aunt Meta's pineapple pie. He also enjoyed teaching others some of the recipes he knew, like teaching his nephew Will how to make Cumi's biscuits. David enjoyed cooking and looking for antique cookware among various other hobbies. Because of his enjoyment of logic and debate, the only person that could hold their own with him was his daughter, Erin. Anyone who knew David knew when they had beat him when they heard that chuckle he had when he knew he lost. If you ever forgot someone or something, he was always able to remember it and debate it with you. He was the memory keeper of the family, recalling people, places, and events in Waco and at the farm in Groesbeck. He represented two families, the Williams/Rountree family and the Loeb family, that he connected with later in life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Jackson and Juanita Rountree Williams; his beloved grandparents; and aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Jannifer Seal Williams; his son, Michael Williams and wife, Rene; his daughter, Erin Allen and husband, Ryan; his sister, Melissa Pennington and son, Will; the mother of his children, Patricia; his two stepdaughters, Kayli Schwamb and Michelle Shelton; four grandchildren, Adler, Violet, Margo and Sully; and many cherished cousins and lifelong friends.
In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree in David's memory through the funeral home website or give a memorial gift in his name to Fidelis Masonic Lodge #1127, 2801 West Waco Drive, Waco TX 76708. Or, if you are able, Michael and Erin would like pecan trees planted in his honor.
From beginning to end, as David and Jan would say to each other, he was a real angel heart!
