David Mayfield

September 12, 1926 — October 25, 2003

MAYFIELD, DAVID David Mayfield, age 77 of Bellmead died Saturday, October 25, 2003 at a Temple hospital. Services will be held at 11:30am Wednesday, October 29 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Chaplain Curtis Holland officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Tuesday, October 28 at the funeral home. Mr. Mayfield was born September 12, 1926 in Bruceville to Tolbert and Jessie Mayfield. He graduated from Bruceville-Eddy High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII serving in the South Pacific. He married Dorothy Young September 5, 1947. He had owned and operated Dave Mayfield Barber Shop in Bellmead since 1952. He served as mayor of Bellmead in 1964 and 1965. Mr. Mayfield was a member of Bruceville Baptist Church and V.F.W. Post #2148. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and trained bird dogs. Survivors include wife, Dorothy Young Mayfield, son, Mark Starlin Mayfield both of Bellmead, grandchildren, David Wayne Mayfield, Joshua Mark Mayfield, Jennifer Nicole Mayfield, and Austin Colby Mayfield, sisters, Billie Newman of Bruceville and Bobbie Haddock of Lockhart, brother, Tolbert Mayfield of Cleburne and numerous other relatives. Pallbearers will be Preston Dennis, Stephen Olezek, David White, Larry Scott, James Weaver, and Joe Aimer. Memorials may be made to Bruceville Baptist Church.
