David Ryall Carnahan

June 18, 1931 — March 25, 2001

DAVID RYALL CARNAHAN, 69, passed away Sunday morning, March 25, 2001 at Providence Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Central Christian Church, Dr. Steven Mansen officiating. Burial will follow in Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 1124 Washington. Mr. Carnahan was born June 18, 1931 in Waco, the son of the late Jay and Ruth Carnahan. He graduated in 1952 from Texas A&M with a BS Degree in Architecture. White at A&M, he was a member of the Ross Volunteers. He served in the US Army as a 2nd Lt. He was a partner in the Waco architecture firm of Bennett, Carnahan and Hearn. In 1998 he was honored by the Waco Chapter of American Institute of Arthitects for his 40 plus years of dedicated service to the architectural profession and to the Architects of Central Texas. He was also presented with the 1998 Sturgis Award of Keep Waco Beautiful. Mr. Carnahan was involved in numerous Waco civic organizations including the Waco Historical Society, Cameron Park Zoo, Waco Theater Center and the Jaycees. He was a longtime member of Central Christian Church. Survivors include his sister Ruth Carnahan of Waco his brother Jay Carnahan and his wife Dovie of Tyler; two nephews: Jeff Carnahan of Houston and John Carnahan of Fairbanks, Alaska; and one niece Diane Hampton of Plano. Memorials may be made to the Waco Historical Society, Central Christian Church, Cameron Park Zoo or the charity of one’s choice. WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
