POLLOCK, D. W. D.W. Pollock, age 82 of Waco died Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at his residence. Services will be 1:30 PM Tuesday, May 15th at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 1124 Washington Ave., with Rev. Allen Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, May 14th at the funeral home. Mr. Pollock was born November 10, 1918 to David W.,Sr and Ruby E. Springer Pollock in Waco. He attended Waco schools, graduating from Waco High School, class of 1937. He entered the National Guard in 1940 and later served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal in the 143rd Infantry 36th Division. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany, Italy, and North Africa. D.W. married Patricia Love in S. Boston, Mass. June 4, 1948. He loved playing tennis and bowling and was an avid coin collector. He retired from the V.A. Regional office in 1976 after 36 years. He was a member of Herring Ave. United Methodist Church and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church. D. W. never met a stranger; all who knew him loved him. Three sisters, Theola Smith, Cleo Barley, and Eulavec Pollock preceded him in death. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons Scott King and Michael Pollock. Survivors include: Wife: Pat Pollock of Waco Daughters: Patricia Ann King of St. Paris, OH Shirley Marie Collins and husband, Maurice of Easley, NC Son: James David Pollock of Waco Sister: Elnita Lowe and husband, Clistes of Dallas Five grandchildren Many nieces and nephews Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or favorite charity.
