Dayne Max Short, 72 of Hewitt, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2004 in Hewitt. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Tuesday, June 1, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Chaplain Suzanne Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Moore Cemetery in Chalk Bluff. Max was born June 10, 1931 in Stephenville to Oscar and Rubye Short. He attended Andrews High School and Baylor University. He married his high school sweetheart, Lillian Christine Short and celebrated 55 wonderful years. He had lived his last 30 years in Hewitt as a business owner, farmer and rancher. Max is survived by his wife, Lillian Christine Short; four children, Sherry and husband Jerry Bellamy of Lorena, Steve and wife Patra Short of Salado, Sue Hamilton of Lorena and Scott and wife Jana Short of Lorena; nine grandchildren, Staci Compton, Heather Bandelman, Christy Compton, Ryan Compton, Amber Hamilton, Chris Hamilton, Daniel Short, Amanda Hall and Travis Short; three great-grandchildren, and twins pending. Pallbearers will be Chris Hamilton, Daniel Short, Brad Taylor, Joe Whitehead, Jeff Whitehead and Larry Bandelman. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson Foundation.
