Deborah Storrie Bullock, age 71, passed away peacefully at her home in Robinson, Texas Thursday, April 3, 2025.
A celebration of life for Deborah will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2025, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco, Texas. Derek Cowan will officiate the service.
Debbie was born on July 25, 1953, in San Antonio, Texas to Carmen Lucille Storrie and Hamilton Crawford Storrie at Santa Rosa Hospital. She married John Eugene Bullock May 25, 1974, and together they raised three incredible children: Jessica, Jamie, and John. In February 2003, she married Stephen Allen Rhoads, with whom she shared over two decades of companionship and laughter. Though they had no children together, they spent much of their time caring for their beloved dogs—Luke, Jake, Ben, and Sam.
Debbie was a devoted and compassionate registered dental hygienist, working for 40 years before retiring to the Waco area in 2016. She had a deep love for the outdoors—growing up riding her horses Myrtle and JB, bass fishing, water skiing, and tending her vegetable garden. She especially cherished time spent floating in her swimming pool on Prue Road, often accompanied by Bob Marley or worship music.
In her later years, she embraced the role of “Granny” wholeheartedly and even dabbled in homeschooling. She had an unshakable faith in God and was an active member of Grace Family Church in Robinson. Her favorite scriptures were Psalm 91 and Psalm 103.
Debbie had a quick wit and a joyful spirit. She never lost her sense of humor—even in her final days, she made nurses and doctors laugh with her signature line, “Just joking.”
She is survived by her children and their families: Nick and Jessica Huxel, and their children, Henry and Emma; John and Jamie Snider, and their children, Elise, Sloan, Simon, and Ruby; and John Eugene Bullock III.
She is also survived by her sisters, Suzi Armstrong and Cyndi Rosenthal; her brother, Holt Storrie; as well as her stepmother, Susan Storrie; and step sister, Kim Perry; along with many other family and friends. Debbie will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her deep faith, and her ability to bring joy and laughter to every season of life.
