Dessie M. Wood June 13, 1912 – December 24, 2005 Dessie M. Wood, 93, passed away on December 24, 2005 in Garland. Graveside services will be held at 9:30 am, Tuesday, December 27 at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5 – 7 pm, Monday, December 26 at the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Mrs. Wood was born in McLennan County on June 13, 1912 to James L. and Addie Suggs Rogers, the youngest of 10 children. In November, 1928, she married D. O. Wood. They made their home in Waco and were in the grocery business in South Waco for over 40 years. She was an active member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church prior to her illness and was very active in the Friendship Sunday School class and loved her church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years and her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Linda K. Ham and husband, Tracy of Dallas; sisters-in-law, Nadine Yarbrough, Tennie Vance, Lillian Granger, Lodeen Bradbury; brother-in-law, Herchel C. Wood and various nieces, nephews and friends. The family wishes to thank Muriel Phillips and the staff at TLC Residential Living in Garland for their loving care for the past five years.
