Destiny Rae Contreras

May 15, 1995 — April 13, 2013

Destiny Rae Contreras May 15, 1995 - April 13, 2013 In the early morning hours of April 13, 2013, a heavenly band began to play and the Lord drew an artful picture with bright colors of another angel in heaven. That angel was Destiny Rae Contreras. The picture was of her sitting next to her brother, A.J., who was previously chosen to sit among the other angels. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, at St. Louis Catholic Church with the Rev. John Guzaldo as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m., and Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. This strong willed, determined child was brought into this world on May 15, 1995. From the point her feet hit the ground, she began to excel in every area of her life and brightened every life she touched. That brightness may have been her personality or simply the bright colored clothes she chose to wear. A proud McGregor Bulldog, you would often find Destiny leading the band as they cheered her beloved bulldogs to victory. When not rooting for her bulldogs, she was representing her school while she followed her passions in Art competitions, one act play, marching band, and power lifting. Numerous awards represented her tremendous talent and often you would find Destiny tackling a project she had never encountered. This never discouraged Destiny because she considered herself an "expert in everything". While her daily schedule might make most of us collapse in exhaustion, Destiny would often compliment her busy day with an "Insanity" workout. God forbid you were one of those friends that she convinced to join her in one of these grueling workouts. Smart, courteous with a unique sense of style, Destiny never met a stranger and often brought people together and, more importantly, was the glue that kept them together. The impact Destiny had on others is evident by the hole left in many hearts and lives with the death of this loyal family member and friend. The picture without Destiny may not be as bright and the sound of music may not be as sharp but in true Destiny spirit...she would always want us to march on. She was preceded in death by her brother , A. J. Contreras; and her grandfather, Israel Contreras, Sr. She is survived by her mother, Julissa Contreras; father, Arthur Contreras, both of McGregor; sisters, Kayla and Alisa Contreras; grandparents, Stella Contreras, Rosa Luna and Ascencio Luna,; uncles, Israel, Rene and Michael Contreras and Eulises and Eliud Luna; aunts, Lola and Norma Contreras and Cynthia Luna; and numerous cousins.. Pallbearers are Trey Whitlock, Nicolas Maddox, Jonas Bradshaw, Victor Guerrero, David Valdez, Jaime Ramirez, Jacob Contreras, Michael Contreras, Diego Contreras, Jonathan Martinez, and Paden Lester. Honorary pallbearers are George Jimenez, Brady Whitlock, McGregor High School Band, Art Department and the One Act Play.
