Devon Alexander Walker, 15, passed away November 2, 2016 in Speegleville, Texas. Services will be Monday, November 7, 2016, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Hewitt, Texas, which he attended for many years. Officiating will be his uncle Rev. Chuck Walker. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, November 6, from 4 – 6 p.m. in the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Devon was born in Waco, Texas, and at an early age, he enjoyed sports and music. By the age of three, he started gymnastics and went on to compete and medal at the state level. He enjoyed many sports, including soccer, football, and baseball. While his favorite instrument was the marimba, he also played the piano, cello, and drums. He even made time to play video games. At age thirteen, he wrote an adventurous novel based on a game he liked to play. He wrote music and dreamed of being a band director. Devon was a friend to everyone he met. He was an incredible son, brother, friend, and person. Zoey says her brother was the “best brother anyone could have.” He was a light that spread everywhere he went. Devon always smiled and strived to be happy and make everybody else happy. Devon was preceded in death by his grandmother Debbie Donohoo. Survivors include his parents, Jennifer and Kenneth Walker, best-friend and sister Zoey, grandfather Brian Donohoo, grandmother Inez Russell and grandfather Bill Russell, grandfather Steve Walker and grandmother Janie Walker. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a huge group of amazing friends. Pallbearers will be Andrew Donohoo, Brian Donohoo, Aaron Melton, Tom Rozell, Robert Russell, and Scott Wagner. Honorary pallbearers are Pat Crawford, Chris McCall, and Thomas Rachels. Memorials may be made to Midway High School Band Boosters for the Devon Walker Band Scholarship Fund, 8200 Mars Dr., Waco, Texas 76712.
