Diana Lutes Kohler, 82, passed away Tuesday, April 11 at her home in Waco. Services will be officiated by Brother David E. Brown at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. The burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, April 14 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey.
Diana was born in Charleston, West Virginia, and moved to Waco, in 1942. She attended Waco schools, graduated from Baylor University’s School of Nursing in 1963, and married Kenneth Kohler on August 10, 1963. She served as president of the WISD school board and retired from Baylor’s school of nursing program after 20 years of service. She taught Sunday school at Grace Temple Baptist Church and was a member of her church choir, as well as Baylor Singing Seniors. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and taking them on trips during summer breaks. She also loved to travel and take cruises and went on several international trips with her surviving sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Lois Lilly Lutes; and her husband, Kenneth Kohler.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Marlene and Eddie Baker; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jean Kohler; grandchildren, Kaci Christiansen , Clint Applegate, and Rebecca Kohler; two great-grandchildren; as well as sisters, Sally Goldman, Lois Jean McCook, and Jerry McEwen.
Pallbearers for the service will be Richard McCook, Gregory McEwen, and Mickey Kohler. Larry Kohler is an honorary pallbearer.
Memorials can be sent to Grace Temple Baptist Church, 3825 Bosque Boulevard, or McClinton Cancer Center at 150 Hillcrest Medical Boulevard.
