Dixie Anderson Butcher September 22, 1918 – March 19, 2010 Dixie Anderson Butcher passed away March 19, 2010. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, with Rev. Carl Freeto presiding. Burial will be at Clover Hill Cemetery, beside her husband, S. L. Butcher. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, March 22nd, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Dixie was born in Durango, Falls County, Texas, on September 22, 1918, to Lucy Grisham Anderson and Gillis C. Anderson. She attended school in Durango and Lott High School, where she met Storey Lee Butcher. They were married Oct. 28, 1936, and lived in Lott until his death in 1995. She began her banking career in 1943 as assistant cashier and ended it in April of 1985 as chairman of the board. After the death of her husband, Storey Lee, she moved to Waco, to be near her brother, Sammy G. Anderson, where she lived until September of 2005, when she moved to Ridgecrest Retirement Center, Assisted Living. Dixie was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother, Charles J. Anderson; sister-in-law, Josephine Clanton Anderson; and her best friend, Doris Cox Phillips. She is survived by her brother, Sammy G. Anderson and wife, Dorothy Jean; two nephews, Mike Anderson of Waxahachie and Scott Anderson of Waco; four nieces, Brenda Anderson of Ft. Worth, Karen Wegley of Midlothian, Sue Koehler of Waco and Kim Hoffman of Ovilla; 6 great nieces; 4 great nephews; and one great-great nephew.
