D.J. Hollingsworth

D.J. HOLLYHOLLINGSWORTH D.J. Holly Hollingsworth, age 81, of Waco passed away Saturday, December 28, 2002 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 1:30pm Monday, December 30 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Rev. Alvin Slaughter officiating. Burial will follow at Turnersville Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-8pm Sunday, December 29 at the funeral home. Mr. Hollingsworth was born on October 28, 1921 in Coryell County to Elbert and Myrtice Whitley Hollingsworth. He was reared and educated in the Turnersville area. He married Maurine Scott on August 24, 1940. She preceded him in death on September 26, 1995. He was a veteran of WWII US Navy. He retired from Young Bros. Construction Company after 26 years of service. Mr. Hollingsworth was also preceded in death by two sons, Douglas and Darvin Shorty Hollingsworth; two grandchildren, Dorothy Jane and Misty Dawn; three brothers, Randy, Elbert, and Bill Hollingsworth. Survivors include daughters, Martha Call of Waco; Melissa Hester and husband Bobby of Waco; Daughter-in-law, LaNell Hollingsworth of Mart; grandchildren, Donald, David, Jayna, Melissa, Myca, Laynie, John, Raelyn, Christie, Daniel, Larry, Denise, Shane and Shannon; twenty-two grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sister, Glada Jones of Turnersville; brothers, Curly Hollingsworth and wife Frances of China Spring and Bobby Hollingsworth and wife Matt of Birmingham, Alabama and numerous nieces and nephews. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Turnersville Cemetery Association. The family will be at 4121 Hillcrest Drive Sunday after 3:00pm.
