She graduated from Paschal High School in Ft. Worth in 1946. She met her true love, Bobby Drude Milligan, at Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Ft. Worth. They were married September 23, 1947. She and Bob lived in Chicago, Illinois, Atlanta, Georgia, Smithfield, Virginia, and Hurst, Texas, before settling in Waco in 1964. They were both very active at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church, where Dolores taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was active in the church Neighbor’s Club, where she taught sewing and English to international women living in Waco. She and Bob loved to travel. They were re-baptized in the Jordan River, and they waltzed the Viennese Waltz in Vienna, Austria. They rode a hot-air balloon in Colorado and a camel in Jordan. Dancing was a joy that she and Bob shared all of their married life. Their love for each other was an inspiration to their children and demonstrated to them what a loving marriage should look like.
