Don Leon Cooper, Sr. August 3, 1937 - September 8, 2008 Don Leon Cooper, Sr. of China Spring passed away Monday, September 8, 2008, at the Temple VA Hospital. Funeral Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 11, at Waco Memorial Mausoleum Chapel. The services will be conducted by Brother Arthur Washburn. Entombment will follow. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 10, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Don was born August 3, 1937, in Many, Louisiana, to Clifton and Ruby Cooper. He was a loving husband and father. Don served in the United States Army and was a disabled veteran, but his disabilities never took away from his love of life and love for his family. He was an avid fisherman and loved China Spring football. He has been a lifelong Baptist and a member of Bosqueville Baptist Church in Waco. He was preceded in death by his parents Clifton and Ruby Cooper, and two brothers, Burns and Harold Cooper. He is survived by wife, Peggy P. Cooper, of China Spring, TX; two sisters, Wanda Cooper of Tool, TX, and Mary Baker of Shreveport, LA; loving mother-in-law Doris Pilgrim of Waco; sons, Brian Cooper and wife Mitzi of Shelbyville, IL, and Don Cooper, Jr. and wife Cindy of Little River, TX.; daughters, Kathleen Watt and husband Martin of San Antonio, TX; and Dayna Stelma and husband Mike of China Spring, TX; and twelve grandchildren who were the greatest joy of his life.
